We all love shopping, and who doesn’t? But what if I tell you that you can actually shop from your own wardrobe, in other ways use the clothes that you already have, basically refresh your wardrobe!
In addition to that, I personally think it’s a great idea to save money & get creative as well. And who doesn’t like to save some bucks? I was getting bored with my wardrobe and sometimes I really wish I can hire someone who can switch everything around and give me a makeover hehe. but that’s not happening anytime soon, so I started thinking of ways to use the stuff that I already have.
Here are few tricks that can help in refreshing your wardrobe:
1.Clean Your Closet/ Declutter:
I open my closet & I never have anything to wear. My whole life I have been shopping and never have anything to wear, wow. I guess the story of every girl’s life, eh?
This is seriously the main crux of it, cleaning out your closet. Sometimes my closet looks like as if there was a tornado in there. Yup, ask my husband. Especially when there is a baby, grabbing your leg and crying for attention, you gotta hurry things up. That means throwing the shirt in the closet. Therefore, Take everything out and have piles (I).Donate (II).Throw Away (III).Keep (IV). Sell. Most Importantly Focus on decluttering it and don’t forget to be ruthless.
2. Organizing/Rearranging:
Move things around in the closet. The clothes that are far away in the corner bring them to the front. We tend to keep grabbing the stuff that is in the front and thus get bored of using it. There was an organizing trick I learned from Pinterest (our best friend) to set up your hangers all in one direction and switch them once you wear them. In the end of the month, you can notice the unswitched hangers and donate those clothes. You can even organize them with colors and seasons.
3.Be Creative:
You need some skills here, maybe little bit of stitching and cutting. You can cut a long shirt into a small one and wear it with a cardigan. A dupatta can be turned into a nice hijab. Just need to trim it down and fold the edges. Recently, I am getting bored with my hijab collection, so was thinking to add some pearls to them.
4. Accessorize:
Learn to accessorize your outfits. With that, you can simply change the whole look of an outfit. Also, Take out vintage jewelry that you haven’t used for ages and try to pair them up with outfits. Statement necklaces and chokers are in, try pairing them up with shirts. Though I don’t wear a choker because the hijab covers my neck but I have been thinking of using them as a headband. Always try to think of multiple uses of one piece of jewelry. Try cuff bracelets and stacking bracelets, I really enjoy wearing them.
5.Switch Things Up:
I consider myself a person who never likes to experiment. But sometimes it’s good to wear something completely different for your taste. Ask your husband, siblings, mother or kids to pick an outfit for you and trust me that would be fun. You don’t have to worry about what to wear and secondly It’s exciting to see what they pick for you. Once I let my husband pick an outfit for me & It was wonderful. Also, I totally forgot that I had something like that. I kept on wearing the same thing again and again, and finally, I got to wear something different. Also if you have a sister, I have two by the way and whenever I make a trip to Florida, I am in their closets searching for things I want to take with me. I also take some of the stuff that I am not using for them. 🙂
